Dixie Kaye Gill Elm July 25, 2012

A sparkling light is gone from our world, gone to be with the Father. Dixie Kaye Gill Elm, formerly of Wake Forest, died July 25, 2012 in Louisville, Colorado where she had lived for many years. Born in Raleigh, North Carolina to Hubert Seaton Gill Jr., and Sara Frances Eaddy Gill, who preceded her in death, as did her brother Hubert Seaton Gill III.

She is survived by her sister, Annette Gill Seidel and her husband, Richard, of Morehead City, NC; her brother, Randolph Eaddy Gill and his wife, Charlene, of San Diego, CA; her sister-in-law, Sue Kelly Gill of Garner, NC; her beloved nieces, Sally Seidel Paulding of Stratham NH, Savannah Gill Lapinskes and her husband, Zane, of Garner NC; beloved nephews, Richard Paul Seidel, Jr. and his wife, Claudine, of Wilmette, IL and Hubert Seaton Gill IV of Garner, NC and adored great nieces and nephews, Jessica, Jeremy, Jordan and Connor Paulding; Trevin Van Dyke, Olivia, Walker, Caroline Seidel; Sarah, Benjamin, Elijah, and Silas Lapinskesas, well as her former husband, Donald Elm of Superior CO and much loved step-daughter, Stacey Bas, and her two children, of Bordeaux, France. She also leaves her dear friends, Shirley & Ralph Thompson, Mary Wright and Abraham Campbell and precious kitties, Peepers and Puddy.

She grew up in the old Raleigh NC area, centered by Blount Street, between Capital Square and Peace College, within a block of her grandmother Dixie Gill's home. She went to Murphey School, just as her father had, and sat in Fanny Knight Thomas' 3rd grade class, as he had too. Hugh Morson, Jr. High, Needham Broughton High School and Peace College followed, as she sparkled her way along loving having fun, adding friends and special experiences at every turn. Voted Miss Hugh Morson, Jr. High, cheerleading at Morson and Broughton, dancing at Atlantic Beach, working at Cameron Brown Mortgage Bankers and finally a career as a Flight Attendant at United Airlines in Denver CO from 1967-1995. Her first and only base was Denver because she fell in love with Colorado and stayed there till now.

She was the epitome of Southern hospitality, warmth and genuineness. She loved traveling, reading, flowers, dining with friends, hosting home Bible studies and was a gourmet. During her life and her illness she had a deep faith and trust in God. Her lifetime studying of the Bible was the lamp unto her feet and a light unto her path.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock, Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Forestville Baptist Church in Wake Forest. Burial will follow in the church cemetery beside her grandfather Hubert Seaton Gill and grandmother Dixie Taylor Dunn Gill.
