The tennis courts in Heaven just got a little more crowded. Steve, born 10/6/1943 in Raleigh, NC, left us on 5/27/2020 after a courageous journey with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Janie, his sons Keith, Erich and Max, sisters Anne, Vicky and brother Clifford.

Steve was a salesman in the technology industry. People buy from people they like, and most could not help but like Steve. With a contagious smile and zest for life, no one was a stranger for long. His love and loyalty to friends and colleagues was steadfast, but his love and commitment to his family defined him. In his colorful linen shirts and distinctive glasses, his presence was always quietly felt.

Steve loved his sons. Whether traveling to tennis tournaments, battling his kids in ping-pong, spending time on the water fishing & skiing, or relaxing on the beach in the sun, he cherished each moment spent with his family. Trips to Hawaii, Nantucket, and Mexico with friends and family created memories for a lifetime.

Whether on the tennis court at Brookhaven in the early mornings or on the golf course with colleagues, competition quickly led to friendship. Steve's unwavering loyalty and love in friendship can be no better exemplified than with Theta Chi brothers Harry & Larry from High Point University. Steve was passionate about cars and boats and there was no greater pleasure to him than changing them often. He loved good food, especially dessert and the opportunity to share it. An amazing friend who always had a smile and a heartfelt compliment for everyone, his was a life well lived.
