In Memory

Jim M. Neely

We just learned of the passing of Jim Neely from his daughter Christy.  She has also updated his profile with some wonderful photos of Jim through the years.  Here is what she shared with us in her email:

Vietnam Veteran, Sgt. Neely served as an electronics warfare specialist in the US Air Force 1964-1968. Retired from IBM after 25 years as an Electrical Engineer. He spent his retired years playing on a pool league in Raleigh before falling ill to lung cancer and heart problems. Went down swinging, just as stubborn and hard working as he always was. Well respected by his family and friends for his work ethic and intellect. Jim set a fine example for his children and and grandchildren who miss him, dearly.

Survived By: Children; Shannon, Scott, Christy, Mark, Heather; 5 grandchildren; sister, Cheri, brother, Mike; 1st wife, Diana Barbour; 2nd wife, Michele Gibson Rowland

Robert E (Bobby) Tripp III

I was shocked to hear of Jimmy's passing.  We were best friends in high school, and up to when I joined the army and he joined the air force.  I spent too much time with him at the Scramble Dog and pool hall and not enough time studying at NCSU.  When I got grounded he would come by and pick me up and when he was forbitten to see Diana, I would go to her house and pick her up for our "date".  Don't know why we lost touch, but from his obit it looks like he led a wonderful life. Good Bye "Carrot Top".

What a wonderful tribute to Jimmy. Thanks for sharing the photos and memories. I am shocked that he and Bobby spent so much time at the Scramble Dog! Prayers to the family. Mollie
