Martie lived in Cameron Village with her sister, Abby, and she died of Pompei's Disease (an adult onset genetic form of muscular dystrophy) in May 2005 just as she was about to take part in some preliminary studies of a new drug that was designed to alleviate her symptoms. Her sister has been receiving these infusions ever since, and is much improved. We all appreciated Martie's great sense of humor and miss her very much.
