H. William (Bill) Marvin

After attending the Class Reunion, and having so many folks ask about Tom, I thought I would add a comment or two.

Tom Married a Hickory Girl and moved here after graduating from Dental School in Chapel Hill. Even though he was a good friend in High School, I am not sure I would have thought he would have made a good dentist. But he was- and also very talented in many other ways, music and acting locally in many plays and productions. He could play the wash tub base like he was born with it.

After a while he tired of dentistry and went to Law School and came back to Hickory to practice law, which he did up until his death.

His death was a tragedy and a real loss for all who really knew Tom. He had two lovely daughters who rode in our neighborhood carpool during the school years. His wife Katherine (Aderholdt) Portwood still is a neighbor, and we see her from time to time.

He was a lot of fun and had a lot to give.
