Walter Cherry (or Donald as some of our relatives called him) was my first cousin.  He was a very quiet, unassuming,  gentle and caring son and brother, and he always stayed close to the rest of us in the family as well.  Fishing was  one of his favorite hobbies.  He was truly loved by all of us relatives and friends who knew him.  Walter drowned as a young man in a work-related boating accident in the N.C. mountains while at work for the N.C. Highway Commission.  If memory serves me right, he was up there doing some surveying.   .  His only surviving immediate family member is Joyce Cherry(Donaldson) who graduated from Broughton a year behind in 1962.  I just wanted to remember him in this forum.   Mary Carolyn Cherry (Shirazi)
