Paul Edward Hester was a very trusted friend of mine from 1958 until his death on November 2, 2006.  He finished a tour of duty with the U. S. Navy aboard the USS ALSTEDE (AF-48) homeported in Norfolk, VA after leaving Broughton at graduation in June of 1961.  He returned to Raleigh where he married and had a family.  He obtained a degree in Electronics from UNC and worked in Charlotte, NC before moving to Elizabethton, TN in the northeastern part of that state.  He fell victim to both a heart condition and malignant melanoma to which he succumbed on November 2, 2006.  He is buried in the local cemetery in that city.  As the old saying goes 'Gone But Not Forgotten'.
