Nancy Browning (Martin)

Nancy Madeline Browning Martin of Raleigh joined her late husband in Heaven on February 13. She was a caring soul who will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an ardent believer in universal equality.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, E.C. Martin Jr.; and is survived by her sons George E. Martin of Raleigh and Thomas C. Martin & his wife Sherry Raynor of Wendell; her sister Virginia B. Whilden & her husband Carlton of Charlotte; and her chosen son Stephen Stager & his wife Christine of Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Children's Home Society will be greatly appreciated.

The visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 19 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue; Raleigh, NC 27612, with the service to follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.

Nancy attended Lewis Elementary with some of us who lived in that area of Glenwood Ave and the Brooklyn neighborhood. She lived on Hinsdale street directly across the street from the school.

As some of our stories go,I lost contact with her when we went to Daniels and then on to Broughton. I do remember she was one of a few girls that attended our Boy Scout Troop 330 party at Jenkins Methodist Church, and a few of us had to walk our classmates home which was about 2 blocks away. A trival memory but I remember it well. Funny as I get older, I remember our times growing up better than my current activities. Lol 😂

Sorry to hear about Nancy passing, was not aware until i saw Jim's post,  I also started 1st grade at Lewis and remember Nancy as a very nice and loverly young girl.
